WHEN TO VISIT

HomePlanning your tripContact Us
The best time to visit Kanha is during the dry season - not many people would actually wish to visit during the monsoon period! Indeed Kanha, in common with most of the other Tiger reserves, actually closes it gates to the public throughout this period. November is a lovely time; the monsoon is long-since over and the trees are fresh and green.

For viewing wildlife however, there's little doubt that the game viewing is better when the vegetation has died back and the animals begin to congregate around the water holes. So although many tourists visit northern India in December and January, February or March are better and April perhaps better still. It gets hotter and hotter as the year progresses however, - so March/early April are perhaps the best compromise. You'll need a Visa to enter India, obtainable from the Indian High Commission prior to departure.

If you wish to make a booking for a stay in Tigerland Resort, (which don't forget, will include your rail fare, transfers, accommodation on a full-board basis, park entrance fees and game-drives), you will be asked to pay in full in advance of your travel by means of Bank Transfer to the owner's account in India. However your only other expenses will be overnight accommodation in Delhi and personal expenses incurred should you wish to take a tour of Delhi, and any other items of a personal nature such as food and drink etc. prior to arriving at the resort or after departure.

If you are met at the airport and taken to the representative's family home to freshen up after your flight, and/or vice versa before your departure from India, it is also expected that you tip him the equivalent of approximately £40 for the work entailed. If this seems disproportionate, remember he will have had to drive from his house on the the outskirts of Delhi to meet you at the International Airport at what might be an anti-social hour; transport you to his home and provide you with washing facilities; his wife will probably offer you tea and breakfast; he will take you to a suitable hotel or guesthouse and will have had to make arrangements for your stay beforehand; he will meet take you to the railway station and see you onto the correct train for your overnight journey; he'll meet you on your return from Kanha, likewise take you to his own home for a freshen up and/or breakfast, and then return you to the International Airport for your departure to the UK.
